The boxes were inside, but I didn’t have any energy left to
unpack them. Setting up the bed had
taken the last of it.
That almost didn’t happen, but Zack and I refused to sleep
on the floor. We were going to be sore enough come tomorrow morning. We didn’t need to add stiff backs to the mix.
We lay in our bed, the moonlight spilling through the bare
windows the only illumination.
I knew I needed a shower. I could feel the sweat drying on
my skin. I doubted I smelled all that pleasant.
Zack rolled over, his head nuzzling against my neck.
Sex was out of the question, but sex wasn’t what I needed at
that moment.
He wrapped his arm across my chest. That was what I needed.
That was all I would ever need.
