S. L. U. T. : Smoque pt 3

"So you don't need these computers I just smashed? Good. I was worried." She tied Big Mama hog style, then stuffed a dry ice grenade in her mouth, pulled the pin and wrapped her head in a mesh scarf that she pulled from her belt. When she woke up and opened her mouth to blow fire at her attacker, this would freeze her head.
Smoque flew over the pit of hungry teeth and scales to the hostage, grateful she could fly because there was nowhere to land. The chair was sticking out of the water with several different IV's attached to the poor girl's arms and face.
"Please help me! She's insane!"
"What is all this?"
"She said she wanted a daughter. She already pumped a bunch of things into me. My skin is burning."
"Clockwork, what do you have for me?"

"So she doesn't know she's green and shimmery then?"
"We'll worry about that later. How do I unhook her?"
"Okay hold on."
The machines started to beep wildly. Green, yellow, red and blue liquids began to flow through the tubes and into the heiress.
She screamed. In fear and in pain.
"Look at me!" I said. "What's your name?"
"You don't know who I am?!"
"Of course I do. But can you remember?"
"I am Ambrosia Nikita Freema Daltonshire. Heir to Daltonshire Incorporated." She screamed again.
"Talk to me Clockwork!"
"Okay, you need to switch off the power at its source. If you unplug the IVs first you could kill her."
"Which would be where?"
"Go back to the computers-"
An explosion went off. Followed by a shout. Then a thud.
"Thank God that worked."
"For now."

"So we'd better hurry before she wakes up a melts the hell out of you two."
Big Mama was a block of steaming ice. Her eyes were wide with shock, but they weren't moving.
"Is she dead?" Ambrosia asked.
"No such luck. She is frozen. But we've only got a few minutes. I have to go back to the computers to turn all this all off. I won’t be gone long.” As Smoque flew over to the consoles she turned her attention back to her partner.
“Clockwork, turn off the scrambler, and call Bermuda. Give these coordinates. I want Big Mama Marsh and Bubba Joe under lock and key asap. Tell them to bring a muzzle."
"Before or after I tell you how to save Ambrosia's life?"
"During."
"Just checking. If the main console hasn't been crushed and/or frozen then pull up her vitals. There should be an indicator as to what does what. You need to turn those off with stopping her heart."
"And I do that how?"
"There should be a flashing indicator pointing to her heart. Don't turn that one off until she's safely unplugged from the chair. Or not all, since she won't be in the chair anymore and it won't matter."
"You are going to be doing so many laps in the simulator when I get back."
"What is happening over there?" Ambrosia called out.
"I'm working on getting you out of there without killing you, dear, be patient."
Smoque started to shut off the machines. She only needed two more when she heard a whirring sound. Smoque turned and saw the chair lowering rapidly into the water.
"Smoque, what's happening?"

"I turned on the chair. She is very quickly going towards the gators and I'm not done turning this stupid thing off yet."
"How'd you do that?"
"Don't know. Don't care. Need to finish."
"HELP ME!"
"I'm coming! Off and off. See easy-peazy."
She took out her guns and fired at the hungry looking reptiles, more to scare them off, than kill them. She flew back to Ambrosia and gently took the needles out with a speed burst so as to not hurt the girl.
"We need to go and we can't go back the way I came. You need medical attention."
"SMOOOOQUE!"

Spirit Lake: The House Next Door pt.5

The boxes were inside, but I didn’t have any energy left to unpack them.  Setting up the bed had taken the last of it.

That almost didn’t happen, but Zack and I refused to sleep on the floor. We were going to be sore enough come tomorrow morning.  We didn’t need to add stiff backs to the mix.

We lay in our bed, the moonlight spilling through the bare windows the only illumination.
I knew I needed a shower. I could feel the sweat drying on my skin. I doubted I smelled all that pleasant.

Zack rolled over, his head nuzzling against my neck.
Sex was out of the question, but sex wasn’t what I needed at that moment.

He wrapped his arm across my chest. That was what I needed.

That was all I would ever need.

Spirit Lake: The House Next Door pt. 4

Our car, a 2010 white Jetta, pulled up behind us.
Margo, one of Zack’s many sisters, had driven it for us. When she stepped out of the car her wine red hair, wife beater, camo pants and black leather boots instantly clashed with the Leave It to Beaver surroundings.

“Holy shit!” When she spoke her words seemed to vibrate through the quiet streets. “You really are moving to the middle of nowhere.”

Zack hugged his sister, but I hung back.

Margo Willis never seemed to warm up to me. She was nice enough, but it was clear that she always thought her brother could have done better. When I had failed into talking him out of buying the store, and the move, she made it clear that I was on her shit list.

That fact was going to make her staying with us even more fun. Things were already tense enough, and now I had an angry, punk rocker lesbian living down the hall for the next couple of weeks, or at least until Zack got the store up and running.

I was hoping Beach Reads caught on quick.

“Isn’t it gorgeous? And can you smell that? Clean air!” He glanced back at me. “Darren, when was the last time you smelled non-polluted, fresh air?”

“1995?” I shrugged. “My family went to the Hamptons for a weekend.”

“Come on, lets get this bitch unpacked so we can get to celebrating your big move.” Margo brushed past me and headed towards the back of the U-Haul. “And by celebrate, I mean drink heavily.”

She threw open the back of the U-Haul and began carrying in all of Zack and I’s memories from New York.

All I wanted to do was start packing them back up.
